About Us
Our mission is to grow survivor and collective power to transform the culture and conditions that lead to violence.

South Asian SOAR (SOAR) is a national collective of survivors, organizations, and allies building a movement for joy, healing, and justice in the South Asian diaspora.
Historically, solutions to ending violence have predominantly focused on addressing immediate crises at the interpersonal level. This model is just one spoke in the wheel. Catalyzed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise in gender-based violence, and the racial uprisings in 2020, SOAR was founded to build power to drive long-lasting systems change. By building the power of survivors and communities, we seek to transform the culture and conditions that lead to gender-based violence and build new systems of care and healing. To do this, SOAR’s work is focused on three core strategies: growing survivor leadership, elevating policy advocacy, and strengthening organizational capacity.
